JAMB UTME CBT tips: how to prepare and manage your time
Updated 26 October 2026
The JAMB UTME is a computer-based test, so how you practise matters as much as what you study. These tips focus on preparing for the format as well as the content. Always confirm current rules, subjects and dates on the official JAMB website.
Before exam day
Practise on a computer or phone with a timer, not only on paper.
Do a full mock under real time conditions at least a few times.
Keep a short list of topics you keep missing and revisit it daily.
Practise English first: it is compulsory for every candidate.
Managing time in the exam hall
Answer the questions you are sure of first, then return to the harder ones.
Do not spend too long on one calculation question.
Glance at the timer every few minutes, not every few seconds.
Use the last minutes to check unanswered questions before you submit.
Exam-day checklist
Know your centre and arrive early.
Carry the documents JAMB asked for.
Sleep well the night before, and eat before you go.
